
Barry E. Simon began his arbitration career in 1989 after serving as Labor Counsel for the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company. He received a B.S. in Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. His arbitration practice covers both the public and private sectors and he is a permanent arbitrator for American Airlines and the Allied Pilots Association, the US Postal Service and the National Association of Letter Carriers, and numerous arbitration panels in the railroad industry. He is a Past President of the National Association of Railroad Referees and is on the Board of Governors of the National Academy of Arbitrators. Mr. Simon also serves as a member of the Arbitration Forum, an advisory panel to the National Mediation Board. He is an active member of the State and Local Collective Bargaining Committee and the Railroad and Airline Labor Law Committee of the American Bar Association. From 1990 to 2004 he was an Adjunct Professor at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, teaching Negotiations and Conflict Resolution and Human Resources Management. Mr. Simon is on the arbitration panels of the AAA, the FMCS, the NMB, the ILRB and the IELRB.
