Faculty

All of the faculty members are in the top tier of labor arbitrators. They are student-focused so you learn the material in a practical and dynamic way. They enjoy teaching and are committed to making this a genuine learning experience. In alphabetical order: Steve Befort is professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota Law School and a prominent labor arbitrator. He is also former editor of the ABA Journal of Labor and Employment Law. Andrea Dooley is a popular labor arbitrator based in San Francisco. She was previously a labor attorney at a large law firm and for a major corporation. John Kagel Is nationally known labor arbitrator. A graduate of the University of California Berkeley law school, he serves on several panels. He is a past president of the National Academy of Arbitrators. Mark Suardi is an attorney and prominent labor arbitrator, After graduation from St Louis University Law School, he practiced law. He serves on several panels in the public and private sector.

CLE/HRCI/SHRM Information

Attorneys and HR professionals can earn credit toward their licenses and certification. The number of credits for attorneys depends on the state. Please let us know on the registration form where you hold a license. (Most often, it is 7.0 CLE credits.)

Facility Description

This program is in downtown Oakland at the modern 21-story Oakland Marriott City Center. The Marriott is located above the 12th Street BART station. Hop off the BART and you are at the conference. If you fly-in, it is 8 miles from the Oakland International Airport and 25 miles from San Francisco’s airport. Via BART, downtown San Francisco is just 12 minutes away (you can take BART all the way to SFO). The hotel is also a good location for exploring Napa and Sonoma wine country, the East Bay and Berkeley. Closer to home are historic Old Oakland, City Center plaza, Chinatown, and Jack London Square on the waterfront.
